Moonee Ponds Creek Trail – Saturday 20 Jan 2018

Happy New Year everyone!

We’re kicking off the year with a ride along Moonee Ponds Creek Trail (“MPCT”); we haven’t ridden this one very often, so it could be a new ride for some people and we also stay clear of the city and the crowds currently in town for the tennis.

So here are the details you need:

Meeting place: Green Park, outside Velo Cycles (815 Nicholson St, Carlton North – right on the Capital City Trail (“CCT”)).

Meeting time: 11am, Saturday 20 Jan

Distance: ~22.5km

From Green Park (Velo Cycles) we’ll follow CCT to Fleming Bridge Station where we’ll join the MPCT and ride north to Broadmeadows Central – not because there’s anything amazing there necessarily, but we’re probably guaranteed somewhere for lunch.

There are a couple of options for the return route:

a) retrace our path along MPCT

b) jump on a train from Broadmeadows Station, very close by our planned lunch stop

c) we could explore further and follow the bike path east along the Western Ring Road, and head back to Green Park via Merri Creek Trail. This route is approximately 21.5km from Broadmeadows Central.

Apologies for the late notice of this ride. There is no ride presently organised for the Australia Day long weekend, which is when you would expect the nominal ‘end of month ride’ to be held (however if anyone happens to be in Marysville on Saturday 27 Jan and wants to ride up to Lake Mountain with Stephen and I, please get in touch).

Upcoming Events

While I have recently posted a draft outline of events for the year (see previous post) I will endeavor to confirm upcoming events at the end of each new post as a reminder for people.

10-11 Feb Sustainable Living Festival

Melbourne Brompton Club will be represented at the Velo Cycles stand at this year’s SLF, held at Birrarung Marr. Why not come along and say hi if you’re around?

24 FebBrompton Maintenance Session

Our maintenance session last November was was a sell out. Attendees had a great time and picked up some practical knowledge to get them out of a tight spot. If you feel you need a basic refresher, or you missed out on the last course, Velo Electric & Folding is running another basic maintenance course on the last Saturday in February. Stay tuned for more details on how to register your place.

In the meantime, happy Bromptoneering everyone. 🙂
